Ephyra is a development stage of the "Aurelia aurita".
These jelly fish have a complex life cycle which involves sessile and free-floating larval stages as well as sexual and asexual phases of reproduction, the ephyra being free floating and the result of the asexual phase of reproduction known as strobilation.
This drawing was done from observation of a real specimen through a microscope with the aid of a camera lucida.
